Bible Reading: 1Peter 5: 8-10
Focus Scripture: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8
Don’t be fooled, majority of the attacks you encounter are directly related to the impact you are making in the Kingdom.
A few months ago, the Lord led me to pay attention to when and how the enemy attacks me. I was sharing with a friend my faith and things that The Lord has been revealing to me and teaching me. My friend commented on how she was blessed by my testimony and was compelled to start being more intentional with her walk with Christ. As I was praising God and thanking Him, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Be watchful for the attacks that come because of this.” It was then that I became more intentional in learning the patterns of Satan.
This is how it all played out:
I was going through a really rough time, mentally. It came after I made some deliberate decisions, decisions that I believed would strengthen my relationship with Christ and allow me to know Him on a deeper level. I was so excited about those decisions and what God had already started to do on my behalf, that I began sharing with everyone I came in contact with. On one account, while sharing a testimony with a friend, unbeknownst to me, someone else overheard our conversation. It wasn’t until later on that I found out she heard us. She stopped me and said, “I know you weren’t talking to me, but I was listening to what you were saying…” She then proceeded to tell me about the decisions she had started to make with developing her relationship with Christ.
A few days later, when I was talking to another friend, sharing some things, I then realized the connection between my conversations and the constant mental attacks that had come, some of which originated from a conversation that someone overheard, that I knew nothing about.
As Christians, we have to begin to move from a defensive mindset to an offensive mindset. Satan has no problem with attacking us, tormenting us and stealing our joy, so why do we struggle with being intentional in our actions in attacking him to keep it?
Spiritual Warfare is a real thing. The devil is not excited about your walk with Christ, let alone your efforts to develop others and help win them over to The Kingdom to God. Be on alert so you’re not blinded and miss what’s really going on! “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for opening my eyes to see the truth. Allow me to be more intentional in paying attention to what’s really going on so I know how to respond in the future. Continue to place people in my life that I can help direct to You, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
