The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide For The Reader In Your Life

18 Dec

7hu4iwksw2k-jazmin-quaynor“Christmas time is here, happiness and cheer…” Nothing says curl up with a really good book, next to the chestnuts roasting by the fireplace more like Christmas Time! (For the record, I’ve never roasted chestnuts, by a fire or any other place for that matter.) But you know that time that you get to sneak away from all the hustle and bustle of the season, for a few hours just to escape into another world or feed your soul with self- help preparation for the new year. Well here is your ultimate holiday gift guide to accomplish just that for you or the reader in your life. Click the image to access the book via Amazon.

Visioneering by Andy Stanley

Visioneering is the engineering of a vision. It’s the process one follows to develop and maintain vision. “Vision,” writes Andy Stanley, “is a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be.”

In the bestselling Visioneering, Stanley builds a compelling case for the necessity of a clear, God-ordained vision for each of the roles of your life. Whether you’re a parent with a vision for your children or a CEO pursuing a corporate vision, Visioneering is the perfect tool to help you develop and maintain God’s unique purpose for your life.

Marriage God’s Way by Scott LaPierre

At its best, marriage brings joys and blessings rarely seen in this life. At its worst, marriage generates pain and conflict, often because husbands and wives do not fully understand their roles and responsibilities.

Wouldn’t it be great if husbands and wives had access to clear, simple instructions on how to have a wonderful marriage? Such instructions exist! As the author of marriage, God placed the recipe in His Word that shows husbands and wives how to experience the marital blessings available to every couple. Whether you are preparing for your wedding, newlyweds, or marriage veterans, you will learn those instructions in Marriage God’s Way.

Pastor Scott offers a clear guide on the Bible’s view of marriage. He explains:

  • Scripture’s commands for husbands and wives
  • Godly love and how to show it
  • Submission and headship
  • Biblical intimacy
  • How to build your marriage on an indestructible foundation

Scott LaPierre combines clear teaching from Scripture with practical application for daily married life to encourage, challenge, and equip you to experience a healthy, joyful, Christ-centered relationship.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.

Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.

Then she meets Michael Hosea, a man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything. Michael obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation, until, despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw.

But with her unexpected softening comes overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she no longer can deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael does…the One who will never let her go.

A powerful retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.

Self Made by Nely Galan

What does it mean to be self-made? It’s not just about having money, but financial empowerment is where it begins. It means getting out of survival mode, where you are one problem away from catastrophe. It means changing your mindset from instant gratification to goal orientation. It means being able to sleep at night without worry. It means being rich in every way: rich in money, rich in family, rich in love, rich in time—abundant!

For Nely Galán—entrepreneur, TV producer, and real estate mogul—helping women to become self-made is a movement and a mission. Galán pulls no punches. She is the straight-talking friend and mentor you’ve always wanted, and here she shares valuable, candid, no-nonsense lessons learned on her own path to becoming self-made (“There is no Prince Charming”; “Think like an immigrant”; “In your pain is your brand”; “Don’t buy shoes, buy buildings!”). You’ll read inspiring stories of women who started and grew businesses out of ingenuity, opportunity and need. You’ll find exercises to help you identify your goals and your strengths. You’ll learn tips and tricks for saving money, making money, and finding “hidden money” that can help jump-start your self-made dreams.

When you become self-made, the change in you inspires change in those around you, because one of the greatest rewards of a self-made life is seeing how the sparks from your personal revolution can light a fire in others. So come, join the Self-Made movement. The revolution starts inside of you!

His Leadership Her Trust by Heath Wiggins

“PIONEERING”! This ground-breaking look into relationships uncovers the secret of how Christian men can increase the level of trust and respect of their girlfriend, fiancée, or wife to the point where she actually wants to follow him. Early in his marriage, Heath knew the direction he wanted to lead his family but struggled with how to get there. He needed to learn how to be a better leader in order to accomplish their dreams, but no one could show him how to do it. So he went back to school and spent the next 10 years researching how to provide leadership in a relationship and gain the trust and respect of his wife. Men need more than money or the title “husband” to be the leader in a relationship with today’s contemporary women. This book is the first of its kind to break down and teach men, in four practical steps, exactly how to provide leadership in a relationship, how to gain a woman’s respect without demanding it, and how to get a woman to trust his judgment and decision making—all within the Christian context.

Surviving Spiritual Heartbreak by Jennifer Jenkins

To have your will align with God’s, experience the manifestation of your greatest desire, and be able to fully enjoy the promise, is to realize the fullness of God’s unmerited grace. To have your will align with God’s, recognize the existence of your greatest desire, obtain confirmation that the promise is indeed true, and then, to be stripped of it, is to experience spiritual heartbreak and the fullness of God’s unmerited mercy and love. If you have ever experienced the latter, or have a desire to understand a loved one who has, you will find hope and encouragement in this straightforward, eye-opening account of one woman’s journey from the pit of spiritual heartbreak to the discovery of her purpose and promise. Discover how the breaking of your heart has prepared your Spirit for the fulfillment of your purpose and procurement of your promise.

Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.

New York Times bestselling author Priscilla Shirer, widely known for her international speaking, teaching, and writing ministries, brings her new role from the 2015 film War Room into the real lives of today’s women, addressing the topics that affect them most: renewing their passion, refocusing their identity, negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets, navigating impossible schedules, succeeding against temptation, weathering their worst fears, uprooting bitterness, and more. Each chapter exposes the enemy’s cruel, crafty intentions in all kinds of these areas, then equips and encourages you to write out your own personalized prayer strategies on tear-out sheets you can post and pray over yourself and your loved ones on a regular basis.

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying.

Crash The Chatterbox by Steven Furtick

“I used to think that someone who struggled with the kinds of weaknesses I deal with daily was useless to God. I felt so often like I was drowning in internal dialogue I couldn’t control. It had been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I could remember.

Yet everything changed when I began to realize God has given us the ability to choose the dialogue we believe and respond to. And once we learn how, we can switch from lies to truth as deliberately as we can choose the Beatles over Miley Cyrus on satellite radio.

This is the key to pressing ahead and doing God’s will anyway, even as you are bombarded with thoughts, feelings, and even facts about why you can’t do it.

I’m now awakening to the reality that we can access the power of God’s promises to constantly crash the system of our broken beliefs. I’m learning how to overpower the shouts of the Enemy by bending my ear to the whisper of God’s supernatural truths about my identity in Him and His strength in me.”
-Steven Furtick

Dance Into Destiny by Sherri L Lewis

An unlikely friendship between a purposeless socialite and a purpose-driven church mouse leads them on a passionate pursuit of God’s destiny and balance for their lives.

Keeva Banks is in danger of flunking out of grad school – again. She can’t seem to get it together because, honestly, she doesn’t really know why she’s in school. She’s desperately in need of a sense of purpose to give meaning to her life. Shara Anderson has that sense of purpose through her intimate relationship with the Lord, but needs some balance in her Christian walk. Through divine orchestration, the two women meet, and their lives are forever changed.

Dance Into Destiny is a story of friendship, love, and overcoming issues from the past.  It illustrates how pursuing an intimate relationship with the Lord is the key to reaching one’s true potential and fulfilling one’s God-ordained destiny and purpose.

Let’s Talk About Relationships

28 Oct

relationshipsLet’s talk about relationships. A few months ago, I did a Fun Lunch Friday entitled What’s Taking Him So Long where I gave my perspective to a question from one of my Breakfast BFF. Following the post, I thought it would be great to get a different perspective, so last Thursday I had a live relationship talk with Relationship Coach, Heath Wiggins from His Leadership Her Trust.

Below is the playback from our chat. We experienced some technical difficulties in the beginning, so please jump to 9:53 to start the content of this chat.

I want to hear from you, what is it about relationships that you don’t understand?

4 Things To Consider Before You Vote

21 Oct

polling-station

It’s time to vote! We are just two and a half weeks away from the 2016 Presidential Election. Campaign Rallies have been had. Debates have been televised. And it is now up to the American people to make one of the most important decisions we have to make collectively, who will be the next leader of the free world. But as Christians, we can’t just make that decision based on how we feel or how much we dislike the other candidate. According to John 17:14, We are not of this world, however we do dwell here for now, and one of our missions as Christians on this earth, is to make certain we represent Christ in all that we do. Here are four things to consider as we prepare to cast our votes on November 8th.

  1. Beware of biased media sources.
    • Make certain that you are getting your information from news sources that aren’t going to conform their stories to one candidate. Know who you are getting your information from and who they are funded by. A lot of the news we see, hear and read is determined by who funds the source. There are some independently funded media sources out there to include NPR and The Real News Network. I would encourage you to research others for none biased information.
  2. Fact Check
    • As we are preparing for the 8th of November, please make certain that the information you are sharing is true. There are a number of premade social media post that are being shared as factual, when in reality the information presented is false. The last thing we need in this election is more confusion, especially if it could have been avoided.
  3. Think Independently.
    • Don’t feel pressured to vote for a candidate just because they are representing your party. In Romans 12:2, the Bible encourages us not to be conformed to this world. It is important to know what God’s will for our country is, not your political party’s.
  4. Seek The Lord for wisdom.
    • James 1:5 says, If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. One thing’s for sure, we definitely need guidance during this election. And I am confident that God’s plan will prevail. It always has and it always will!

Be encouraged Breakfast BFFs and may God Bless America!

Managing Your Emotions During Cuffing Season

14 Oct

cuffin

With Cuffing Season quickly approaching, it can be easy for us to find ourselves in a state of emotional unbalance. As the weather gets colder and everyone wants to retreat inside, both males and females experience the desire to be “cuffed”. Simply put, cuffed means, taken or entertaining a significant other. Here are 4 tips to help you control your emotions so you don’t end up with any ol body just because it’s cold outside.

  • Be Mindful Of Your Consumption

The Word of God encourages us, as Christians, to guard our gates. Luke 11:34-36 talks about our eyes being the lamp of our body; what we take in gets in our heart and ultimately determines our actions and desires. Often times, what we watch on television, listen to on the radio and the conversations we engage in, fuel the way we feel, long after the action accrued. It is not a coincidence that you what to be boo’d up on Saturday night after you have binged watched every Netflix episode of Being Mary Jane on Friday night to unwinds after a long week.

  • Think About What You Are Thinking About

We have become so programmed to “live free” and allow things to “just happen” that we are less intentional about living lives with purpose and this includes being purposeful in our thinking. The only way to do that is to think about what you are thinking about. When we let our mind wonder, without having any control of where our thoughts are going, we place ourselves in the position of being subjected to any emotion because we have freely entertained the associated thoughts. The Bible encourages us in Philippians 4:8, to focus our thoughts on things that are true, pure, of noble character, etc. The only way to accomplish that is by being mindful of your thoughts.

  • Identify What Time It Is

Women, it is important that you know your body and the cycles that you are going through. For every woman it’s different, but at a certain stage of your body’s cycle, you are more susceptible to the feelings of relational stimulation.

Men, you all have a cycle too, it’s just not quite like ours. But we all experience times of vulnerability, where we want to be relational with another human being. During this time, we are to identify it as that, knowing that the feeling will soon pass.

  • Direct Your Attention To Christ

I know, it may sound WACK, the last thing you want to think about when you want to be cuffing is Jesus. “I JUST WANT A BAE!” But seriously, when you direction your attention and energy to Christ, everything you thought you needed and wanted, seems to not be as important. Isaiah 26: 3 reminds us of the promise that God will give us true peace when we focus our attention and thoughts on Him. When we take the energy and attention we have for the desire of another human and focuses it on the Creator of all humans, our outlook begins to change. When you truly focus on God, He will give you a peace and a spirit of contentment that extends past far beyond your lack. Plus, cuffing leads to…. and you ain’t supposed to be doing that anTway! Don’t pop me, Ms. Sherleen, I’m just the messenger.

These emotions and feelings that we have are perfectly normal. God created us to be relational people, Genesis 2:18 confirms that. But that doesn’t mean we are to enter into a relationship and entertain someone every time we have those feelings. I would encourage you to be mindful of these 4 tips the next time you find yourself scrolling through your phone looking for someone to text, as the tune “I just wanna be loved, I just wanna be loved” plays repeatedly in your mind.

So let me hear it, what do you do during those times of temporary mental weakness to keep yourself emotionally balanced? Drop your response in the comments below.

Happy Birthday- Princess M Cosmetics Interview + Giveaway

24 Sep

princessm1A while ago, I had the opportunity to talk with Miss Madison Poole the 15-year-old owner of Princess M Cosmetics I met Madison and her mom a few years ago at Over Accessorized, Baltimore’s Ultimate Girl’s Night & Shopping Party.

Since meeting her and falling in love with her nail polish, Madison has built her nail polish brand into a full-fledged cosmetics line. This past week, she launched a new lippie collection offering lipgloss and matte lipstick!

Breakfast With Tiffani: How did you get started with Princess M?

img_7305

Princess M: I have always been interested in cosmetology. I eventually want to be a cosmetologist and have my own hair products and provide basically everything cosmetics. I first started Princess M Nail Polish when I was 13 years old. Originally, I wanted to start selling lipstick but mom didn’t think that was a good idea.

Mom: Madison wanted to do lipstick first and I disagreed. I disagreed because she was 13. Not many parents would let their child wear lipstick at 13. I even said do lipgloss. She didn’t want to do lipgloss, she wanted to do lipstick. Madison’s creativity takes her far beyond her age level. She is definitely known for her nail polish. I think that we made a good decision to start with nail polish. As her parent and business manager, I think that I encouraged her to make the right decision.

BWT: With being a teenager in high school and a business owner, how do you manage it all?

Princess M: It’s a lot. Besides Princess M, I’m also a cheerleader, so it can be hard sometimes trying to balance Princess M, cheer, school and still try to enjoy my teenage years. Sometimes I miss out on things with my friends if I have a business event. But I have to remember to stay focused. My mom gives me pep talks to help motivate me when I feel like I want to quit.

img_6173

BWT: I saw that you recently partnered with the youngest women to open their own beauty supply store in California. Tell me about that partnership. How did you get connected with KD Haircare?

img_7888

Princess M: Someone tagged us in a post on Instagram and the girls reached out to us. We were able to start wholesaling with them and I’m really excited about that! I have never physically met them. So maybe we can go to California? *looks at mom and smiles*

Mom: Hahaha, I have been thinking about popping up and surprising them. I would really like to meet their mother. KD Haircare was online first and while they were looking for employment, their parents encouraged them to look into transiting to a storefront business.

Their process reminds me a lot of Madison’s. Their parents told them they would go half with them on the startup cost for the storefront. They already had revenue from their online business so their parents gave them half. Madison’s dad and I agreed to loan her the money with the intention of her paying us back. So we are definitely excited about this collaboration!

BWT: How has your faith impacted your success with Princess M?

Princess M: Honestly, whatever God tells me to do, I’m doing it! I know He has so much in store for me.

BWT: Where do you see Madison at 21… 25… 30?

Princess M: Well, I want to move to California to attend school. I don’t have a particular school, as long as it’s in California. At 21, I’m hoping that I will be starting the process of opening my own hair salon.  By 25, I want to be able to sit back and bask in my accomplishments… on the beach!

Mom: Hahaha, Yeah, I’m going to be in the office and she’s gonna be on the beach.

Princess M: Mom, you can work half days, lol!

img_6195

And with your work ethic and focus, you will definitely be enjoying the fruits of your labor by the age of 25! Thank you so much for your time, Madison and mom!

Stay connected with Madison via social media on Instagram and Facebook. Now you know I can’t NOT give away some of Madison’s cosmetics. Ladies, click here and like BWT on facebook for your chance to win a free polish and lippie. The giveaway ends Monday, Septemeber 25th. Best wishes!

Happy Birthday- JORD Watch Review + Giveaway

9 Sep

final JORD 33 things about me:

  1. I love watches.
  2. I wear them for fashion purposes only.
  3. I don’t discriminate. It doesn’t matter who it’s intended for, male or female, if I like it, I’m wearing it!

So you can imagine how overjoyed I am to have the opportunity to partner with JORD Wood Watches as a part of my month long, yes I said “MONTH long,” birthday celebration. I like celebrating and I’m not ashamed of it, so that judgment, you can keep it!

final jord 6I was so excited to receive my watch that I couldn’t even wait to get home and open it, I opened it in the car. I know, pressed! But let me just tell you, the unveiling of my custom handmade watch was an experience within itself.

The watch box is HUGE! It’s made of all wood and has two compartments. The first one is on top where the actual watch is stored along with a watch pillow to keep it safe during shipping. And then there’s a dope little drawer that slides out to store the additional watch links. I plan on storing all of my watches in the box, it’s just that big!

20160904_075547

Now about the watch, I choose Koa & Ash from the Frankie series. I have been looking for an everyday watch, so when I saw this one, I thought, “well, show out Jesus!” It was just what I was looking for, simple with personality, just like me! I personally like the contracts between the Koa wood and the Ash face. I knew that I could dress it up or down to get maximum wear out of it. And the fact that it matches my Damier Ebene Neverfull, yup, sign me up!

final JORD1I’m really not concerned about the Swiss Ronda Normtech Caliber 763 movement of the watch because again, it never has to tick again, and I’ll totally be fine with that. But if you are into watches for functional purpose then there you go.

Now the sapphire glass, I’m here for! And because I’m also here to keep the people informed, here’s your material science lesson for today. Sapphire glass is known in the luxury watch world as the definitive material for transparency and durability. Sapphire is a synthetic crystal (aluminum oxide Al2O3) rather than actual glass. It is colorless and optically clear. Mechanically, it is second only to diamond as the hardest and most scratch-resistant materials on earth. I plan on wearing Frankie daily, so yeah, Imma need that luxury sapphire!final JORD 4

And you know what, I want you to have it too! As much as I like celebrating birthdays, I also like giveaways. Because I was so blessed to have this post sponsored by JORD Wood Watches, we are offering the opportunity for one of my Breakfast BFFs to win a $75 e-voucher towards your own JORD watch. Click here, for your chance to win. And because God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, anyone that enters will receive a $20 e-voucher. Come through God! The giveaway ends on Septemeber 25th. The $75 voucher will expire on 1/1/2017. You know I’m nosey, which watch is your favorite?jord 6_Fotor
