Scripture Reference: Romans 1:18-32
Additional Scripture: Leviticus 20:26; Jeremiah 17:9; James 5:19-20; Galatians 6:1; John 3:17
Note: As it pertains to our hearts being deceitfully wicked, I mentioned the verse Jeremiah 17:19, but the correct verse is Jeremiah 17:9.
This is a great topic… I have found myself in situations like these where I often did not know what to do. For example, my friend is a lesbian. Since I am a Christian, I believe that God made man and woman to be joined together as one in marriage, and not female and female. I however will not tell me friend “you are awful and going to hell for your actions”, but what I do show her is Christ’s love slowly but surely. I show her kindness, I talk to her about activities I partake in at church, I pray for her, and I listen to her and give her advice. After 6 months of doing this, she asked me more questions about my beliefs, because she was interested. This is when I told her what truly mattered- that Christ loves her and that only Christ can forgive all of our wrongs. This lead to further discussion about her way of life and I keep praying that God only shows her the true path. I’m just proud that I didn’t scare her away from the faith. Anyways, I may have veered off a bit, but in conclusion, I didn’t want her to think I was crazy for what I believed, I wanted her to come to a realization of who God is.
That is beautiful! Let the Lord continue to use you..keep being led…we don’t have to convict people of their choices because we’ve all made hideous choices ourselves…but we are all called to be concerned, compassionate and Christ-like…
My reference was in regards to Mary’s commentary…
Amen, absolutely! It all begins with love.
Balance was my word of the year. I still have a way to go. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I did see that video and it saddened my heart to hear that they were so blatantly picking and choosing and no one on the show chose to speak up and pointed back to God’s truth. They brought up the question but never brought it back to the truth. It felt more accepting of what they were doing than encouraging others to always bump their desires against God’s word and then use that as a filter to make our decisions instead of using our feelings. Our feelings fly in all directions.
Yes maam! It too sadden me that not one preacher said a word. We have got to do better! Thanks for stopping by.
I have been striving for balance for years and I listened to someone who said that they stopped striving for their definition of balance and tried to have their life aligned. I find alignment is something that can be attained daily from moment to moment but I won’t be completely balanced until I am in His kingdom. I loved your perspective on the concept though. Thanks for sharing.
