Spirit of Expectancy

25 Jan

Focus Verse: My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. Psalm 62:5 (KJV)

There is a spirit of expectancy that is heavy in the atmosphere amongst believers right now. A shift is occurring in the Kingdom of God and God’s people can sense it. Last week, our Fun Lunch Friday was on expectation and the proper was to expect God to move in our lives.

God is preparing to do some great and mighty things in His Kingdom, don’t try to figure out what they are. Just expect His to do it.

As Christians, sometimes we can get so caught up and focused on trying to figure it out, that we lose site of the expectation God placed in us, and we end up totally missing it. The word of God tells us that His thoughts and way are different from ours, see Isaiah 55:8-9.

As you go throughout your day, praise God for what He is about to do. You may not see it and you may not know exactly what it is, but enjoy this time and give Him glory as you wait with expectancy for the mighty move of God.

Prayer: Father, thank You for that confirming word. I can sense You moving. I don’t know exactly what it is but I thank You in advance for what You are going to do. Your word tells me that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, nor has it entered into the hearts of man the things that You have prepared for those who love You. Father, I love You and I wait with expectancy for what You are going to do. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!

The Way My Expectation Is Set Up

20 Jan

I’m declaring 2017 to be the year of Godly expectation. Have you ever heard the statement, “It will happen when you least expect it.” But my question to this statement is Will it and what does that even mean?

In this Fun Lunch Friday, we are talking about the proper way to expect in God.

The Unexpected

27 Oct

boy-wonder

Bible Reading: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 (AMP)

I was driving home when I witnessed the aftermath of what appeared to be a fatal car accident. I did not know the cause of the accident, the individuals involved, or if indeed it was fatal but instantly I began to pray. On the drive home, I prayed and I continued to pray once I got home. As I was getting settled in, I remember thinking, “why is this so heavy on my heart?” I have experienced some pretty bad accidents before even a couple fatal ones, but I just couldn’t shake this one. I wasn’t expecting the answer I received.

“With this same concern and passion is how you should always pray.” I was amazed, here I was trying to understand why this particular incident was so heavy on my heart but God had another agenda, a real-time lesson on prayer. Now, in no way am I suggesting that the reason for the accident was to teach me to pray more fervently, but I do know that God uses everything to work out for the good according to Romans 8:28. God doesn’t waste a thing and He is consistently speaking to us and showing us His purpose.

Have you ever experienced this, where you were expecting one thing and God totally left you in awe with the outcome? How did you respond? What did you learn from that experience?

Prayer: Father God, You are an amazing God. Thank You so much for Your infinite wisdom and understanding. Thank You for loving me enough to not leave me where I am but for using everything to teach me more about who You are. As I walk with You, help me to keep my spiritual eyes open so I am able to always see You. In Your Son Jesus’ name, Amen!
